Biography of Lisa E. Rubenstein

Lisa Rubenstein is a Court Attorney Referee in Dutchess County Supreme Court presiding over mortgage foreclosure conferences and Supreme Court trials after referrals from Supreme Court Justices. She is also one of the Town Justices in the Town of Rhinebeck, Dutchess County. Prior to her appointment as Court Attorney Referee, she was Principal Court Attorney to Acting Supreme Court and Family Court Judge Valentino T. Sammarco.

Before joining the Court system, she was in private practice specializing in family law and municipal law matters. She started her legal career as a Court Attorney for the Law Research Department of the Appellate Division Third Department.

She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Albany Law School and previously worked as a journalist for daily newspapers in New York and Pennsylvania.

She was previously a member of the Dutchess County Court Improvement Project for Abused and Neglected Children committee and was appointed to the Attorney For the Child Committee of the 9th Judicial District in 2016. Ms. Rubenstein is a member of the Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence, an advisory committee to the Dutchess County Legislature. She has previously served as a member of the Universal Response to Domestic Violence in Dutchess County and was part of a team that presented a conference on Mediation and Domestic Violence.

She is a member of the Dutchess County Bar Association and has previously served on the Grievance Committee. Ms. Rubenstein is past president and director of the Mid-Hudson Women’s Bar Association.
