Paul Whelan is Assistant Deputy Counsel for the Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics. He is responsible for supporting the Chief Counsel, providing confidential ethics advice to judges and quasi-judicial officials, assisting with the development and implementation of ethics training programs, and other sundry duties.
He previously served as Principal Court Attorney to the Hon. Diane Kiesel, Acting Justice of the Supreme Court, Criminal Term, in New York County (March 2019-December 2023).
Before joining the Unified Court System, Mr. Whelan was an Assistant District Attorney at the Office of the District Attorney of Bronx County. Mr. Whelan obtained his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the Villanova University School of Law.
