High school Internship Program
Offered: During the Summer, traditionally held in July.
Applicant: 11th grade and 12th grade high school students.
Conditions: Students must be referred by an educational institution, Say Yes, or UB STEP program. Students must also commit to a minimum of 24-hours per week, for the duration of 3 weeks.
Requisites: Complete Application, Cover Letter, Resume, Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination.
Deadline: March 17, 2023.
The Eighth Judicial District High School Internship Program provides an excellent learning opportunity for 11th and 12 grade high school students during the summer.
The 2023 Eighth Judicial District Summer High School Internship Program is a 3-week summer program, scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 6th, and ends Thursday July 27th. Interns are expected to work Monday through Thursday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This summer internship will enable students to be knowledgeable about different careers in the court system, work directly with judges, judicial chambers staff and other dedicated professionals in the non-judicial ranks of the Unified Court System, and access to professional development programs. The summer internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for paying parking fees.

Law School Internship Program
Throughout the year the 8th Judicial District offers internship opportunities in collaboration with Law Schools including the University at Buffalo School of Law.
Each Summer the 8th Judicial District hosts a group of law students for a structured seven- week unpaid internship opportunity. The program allows students to work directly with judges, judicial chambers staff and other dedicated professionals in the non-judicial ranks of the Unified Court System. Students generally work two to three days each week and weekly seminars on various legal topics are also part of the local program.
