On Thursday, February 21st, 2019, 240 new Court Officer Recruits, the largest group ever, will be the first class in this new state-of-the-art facility to start their four month training as they work to become New York State Court Officers.

The rigorous, four-month basic training regimen for Court Officer-Trainees includes classroom instruction on criminal law, civil law, family law, constitutional law and arrest procedures, along with training in such areas as intermediary weapons including baton, pepper spray and firearms; proper use of force; first aid, CPR and basic life support; crowd control; tactical communications; domestic violence awareness and mandatory reporting obligations.

Officers will be primarily deployed in New York City, Long Island and the Ninth Judicial District. A subsequent class of approximately 75 new recruits will commence in early April at the Courts’ Pond View Facility outside Albany.
